The methropolitan Cathedral

Is one of the most monumental edifices of Timişoara. It is situated in the civic centre of the city. It was built in a byzantine style with several elements that are typical to the architecture from Moldova. It has a length of 63 m and a width of 16 m, 11 towers, the highest of which has 96 m. In the galleries from the basement there is a valuable museum with exhibited objects from the orthodox religious worship - iconostases, icons on glass and wood, inestimable religious books, like: "The New Testament from Balgrad", from 1648, "Serban's Bible" and the "Homily of Varlaam" from 1643 and many other objects that worth being visited.
