Presentation - Miron Cristea Cultural Centre Miercurea Ciuc
"Miron Cristea" Cultural Centre
Located in the heart of the city, the Cultural Centre bears the name of the Patriarch Miron Cristea. It was set up following the initiative of Bishop Ioan Selejan of Covasna and Harghita, in the year 2001. The Centre hosts cultural and scientific activities aimed at researching, processing and featuring, preserving and safekeeping material and documentary evidence regarding the existence along the centuries of the Romanian population in South-Eastern Transylvania as well as of the Orthodox Christian spirituality in the localities across the Orthodox Episcopate of Covasna and Harghita. The Centre also hosts educational activities intended for children, as well as philanthropic and social assistance activities.
The Cultural Centre "Patriarch Miron Cristea" is a welcoming host of the Painting and Traditional Crafts Circle "Romanasul" and of the Music Circle "Romanasul" with piano, violin, guitar and wooden whistle sections. There is also a reading room and a library with over 1500 titles. The activities of the Centre hold a tight connection with the activities undertaken by the Olt and Upper Mures Rivers section of the Oriental Carpathians National Museum, of Miercurea Ciuc.
